Tamil Nadu electricity bill calculator
Plan your home’s electricity costs from units, appliances or your bill.
Rates as per TNPDCL, October 2026If you know your units
Enter your monthly or two-month consumption. One unit is one kilowatt-hour (kWh). A 1,000-watt appliance running for one hour uses one unit.
If you know your appliances
Add each appliance, then enter its power, quantity, daily hours and days used per month. For ordinary power inputs, monthly energy is:
Watts ÷ 1,000 × quantity × hours per day × days per month × on-time fraction.
A 70 W fan used for eight hours a day on 30 days uses 16.8 units per month. Two identical fans use 33.6 units. The two-month total is 67.2 units before rounding.
Use the power value you have
You can enter watts, kilowatts, volts and amps with a power factor, horsepower, or annual kWh from a BEE label. Kilowatts multiply by 1,000. Horsepower multiplies by 746. Volts × amps × power factor estimates real watts for a single-phase load.
Annual label energy is divided by 12. It is not multiplied by your daily hours or compressor duty again. The equivalent watts shown are a full-year average.
Get a realistic estimate
Presets are editable planning values. Star ratings, room conditions, appliance size and usage can change consumption. A product label or measured energy use gives a better starting point.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency explains appliance labels and the test information they contain. A label does not guarantee your household’s exact consumption.
Read the results
The bill uses total household consumption. Appliance costs in the chart divide that bill by each appliance’s energy share. Removing one appliance can change the tariff branch, so its chart cost is not a guaranteed saving.
